Q: Any suggestion on streaming iTunes movies to TV via WD TV Live Hub?
I want to watch movies from my iTunes on my HDTV via the WD TV Live Hub but it doesn't let me do this while keeps saying unsupported format. So did I miss something? What exactly do I have to do with the WD TV so that I can view my iTunes movies on my HDTV? I'm using Macbook Pro with OS X 10.10.3 and iTunes 12.1.2.
Brief Introduction of WD TV Live & iTunes Movies
WD TV Live (Plus, Hub) is a media streamer which enables you stream all your personal and Internet media files including the full HD 1080p videos to HDTV so that you can enjoy your digital content on the big screen of your HDTV. It supports a wide variety of the most popular file formats such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS, RMVB, H.264 and MKV along with various online sites like YouTube, Flickr, Live365, myTV, Pandora, Mediafly, Flingo, AccuWeather, Facebook, etc.
Although WD TV Live supports virtually any media file format, it's clearly stated at its official website that premium content from iTunes Store, Amazon Unbox are not supported. That's simply because iTunes movies and TV episodes are encrypted with Apple's FairPlay and DRM-protected. The iTunes movies are only allowed to be played on selective authorized devices except WD TV Live or any other non-Apple-approved devices. So in order to play iTunes movies with WD TV Live Plus/Hub, you'll need to strip DRM lock from iTunes movie files first.
